How can I book your services?
Email me or call me to discuss your date. If available, I will tentatively hold that date for you for a period of 7 days. In that time, we would arrange an appointment to have a more detailed conversation, ideally over a coffee face-to-face or through another call if necessary. The purpose of this session is to review the finer details of your wedding and to understand exactly what you are looking for from your wedding photography. If you haven’t had a chance to do so already, we will have a walk through of my portfolio and wedding collections at this stage too. When you are happy to proceed, I will ask for a signed wedding agreement and £300 non-refundable date retainer to confirm the date for you.
Are you insured, what backup plans do you have in case of technical failure and what preparation will you undertake for my day?
I am fully insured for both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity. On the day, I carry multiple cameras, lenses and flashes. I also carry a small number of white umbrellas for you and I should the weather turn. In terms of preparation, I will ask you to complete a questionnaire with as much detailed information about the day and the most important people involved and I will personally speak to the officiant of the service to understand the rules with regards to ceremony photography. I will also co ordinate with other wedding vendors where necessary to ensure the smooth and cohesive running of your day. Where geographically practical, I will attend the bridal preparation venue, the ceremony venue and the reception venue well ahead of the day and plan my routes and timings accordingly. I will also work closely with you to formalise your requirements for group and specially requested shots and construct a plan for the day to achieve them all where your timings allow.
Our videographer has asked for a hot meal – do you require one?
Absolutely not. I certainly do not expect to be fed as though I were a guest. I will bring my own food and drink with me and eat when you eat. I will retire to a quiet area and return to capture the speeches.
Will you travel further afield to photograph our wedding?
I am prepared to travel anywhere to shoot your wedding but I would not wish to drive more than 2 hours on the morning itself. If more than 2 hours away, I would opt to travel the day before and stay overnight in a budget hotel (IBIS.Travelodge etc). I would ask that you cover any budget hotel and/or flight costs. Needless to say, if a flight were involved, I would require 2 night’s stay at the hotel. This can all be discussed at out initial session.
Can you tell me about your style and how you will approach the day?
I will spend the vast majority of your day shooting in a documentary or reportage fashion. I will also spend a small window of time creating some stunning bride portraits and your requested group shots. By far the most requested style of wedding photography today, is the documentary or reportage approach. This editorial style is what you will have seen countless times in your wedding planning magazines and is the most unobtrusive method of capturing the day. It is also the manner most likely to leave you feeling relaxed and just enjoying the flow of the day’s activities. There is no doubt that this approach will capture a series of beautifully candid, natural and unplanned events and emotions.
How will our photographs be edited?
I personally edit every single one of your photographs from the day. I will ensure that you receive only the very best shots. I will edit in both colour and black and white as I deem most pleasing for the individual shot in question. Some shots most definitely look better edited one way over the other and I will take those decisions as I edit them all. But of course, as with all aspects of how I operate, flexibility is paramount and my view may not be the same as yours. If after viewing your proofs, you wish to have a small number of amendments to specifics shots, this will be happily accommodated for you. Aside from basic colour editing, I will also crop and sharpen images appropriately to absolutely ensure that the image is the best it can possibly be but I do not “airbrush” in the magazine sense to artificially create an image different from the original shot.
I’ve seen friends’ wedding photographs with proof marks stamped across them – will our photographs have this applied?
You will receive images completely free of proof watermarks on my website, your DVD and your slideshows.
Will you charge us for a DVD of the images so we can make our own prints?
Absolutely not. My collections include all images, fully edited and watermark free as standard. The digital age has revolutionised photography and I should not expect to rely solely on sales of actual prints to supplement my attendance fee on the day. I do not believe in asking you to pay hundreds of pounds for a DVD of images I have already been paid for.
Why should we choose your services over anyone else?
I am very grateful for you taking the time to search through our website and if you are reading this, then it shows that you are serious about researching your potential wedding photographer and making an informed decision. Quite simply, my approach is to provide a basic framework package that meets all of your requirements at a price that you consider to be very good value for money. Secondly, the aim is to be unequivocally honest, open and very clear about what you will receive with no consideration for “hidden extras” that can be so rife today.
